Bad Blogger?

I'm sorry to say I have become a very bad blogger. My time has just been vanishing, and the blogging has been sacrificed. It doesn't actually vanish. I think it gets consumed by 3 little munchkins who have been very much enjoying it. We have had such a busy summer. I can't even remember everything we've done. That's why I should have been blogging. I could have looked back over my blog when fall came and remember all the fun we had. I'll just leave you with some pictures of the highlights.

Thankfully, though, the summer has been pretty uneventful. Doctors visits were at a minimum and no hospital admissions. Middle-G is going to have some additional tests done on his kidney in a few weeks. The function seems to be good, and the kidney is growing well (about the size of a 7 year old's!), but it has a little too much fluid in it, and we need to see if it can be fixed. This may or may not lead to another surgery, but we shall see. We're trusting God to give the doctors wisdom. Thankfully God remains in control as I find it much too stressful to control everything on my own.

Unfortunately, Middle-G's tests are falling on the same day as Big-G's first day of kindergarten. I'm pretty sad that I won't be able to drop him off for his first day every, but Papa will be there, which I guess is probably better according to him. I'll be sure to take a picture of him with his backpack before he leaves. We've started the homeschooling about a month ago, and he has been flying through it. He is the fastest learner ever. He told me the other day that he only writes in cursive now, which is true. He has ONLY been writing in cursive since he learned it, and it is actually very legible. I'm sooooooo proud of him. He is already reading the books for that are supposed to be for the end of the school year. I had no idea he could really read until I gave him a book and he knew all the words.

I wish all my children could be taught this easily, but that will not be the case. Middle-G has much to offer the world, but I don't think book learning is going to be his thing. I could be wrong, but as of now it doesn't seem like I am. I was trying to do alphabet flashcards with him, and I held up an "A." I asked him what it was and he said, "three." I held up a "B." I asked him what it was and he said, "choo-choo train." He definitely a more free spirit!

Tomorrow we look forward to a reunion with my mom's side of the family. I'm sure it will be lots of fun, and the boys will love having so many people to play with. We will be celebrating my grandpa's birthday and also I'll be getting a little cupcake for Gibson to dig into since he'll be 1 next week. I've got to get going early to get my run in. I'm going to try to advance to 8 miles. I did 7-1/2 last week, but my toe was hurting me a lot. We'll see how this week goes. I hope I don't die! I'm supposed to run a half-marathon next Saturday, that's a tad over 13 miles. I obviously won't be running the whole thing. My goal was always to do half, but it's in the morning and I'm a night runner. I don't know if I'll be able to run 10 miles after getting up at 4 a.m. We'll see how my toe and my sports hernia hold up to my run tomorrow, and that will predict what I do next weekend.
I've got to get to bed. The G-men don't let me sleep in! Here are a few pictures from this summer.

Here Comes the Bride...

Friday night was the wedding of my very good friend. She is the nicest person in the whole world, and her wedding was beautiful. Everything went smoothly during the ceremony, and the food at the reception was delicious. It was so much less stressful not being the bride!

Right now my husband is up north for his family reunion. It was a little cool, so apparently nobody even went in the lake. I guess they just huddled around the fire to stay warm. I'm just praying he gets home safe tonight, and not too late. It will be nice to have help with the kids again.

Last night I ran a 4 mile race that starts down the road from our house. It was a night race, so I was able to put the kids to bed first, and that way Uncle M didn't have to do much except keep his ear open for them. It was a really fun race. The weather was perfect for it. There was lots of free food and music after, but I was by myself so I didn't stay long. Hopefully next year I can get someone to go with me. I will definitely look forward to running this one again. I never in a million years would have guessed that I would enjoy running. Not that I want to run a marathon right now, but maybe someday.

This week we have a doctor's appointment for Middle-G and then Thursday starts the State Fair. My husband is counting down the hours. I'll just be glad when it's over, but then it will be time to start packing for another camping trip. It will be nice when it's winter again, and we can relax a little!

Here are few more wedding pics. Sorry no pics of the boys today. I guess I should get that camera out again. Little-G is starting to walk along the furniture, so he'll probably be taking his first steps soon.
